Habitat for Humanity – Elizabeth City
By: Jane Elfring
There are lots of great things happening with Elizabeth City Habitat for Humanity in 2020. We’re preparing to construct the foundation on our new house on 5th Street. As soon as the foundation is poured, we will be ready to accept shipment of the house materials. We need lots of volunteers to help with this construction.
On January 20, we will be celebrating Martin Luther King Day with a Day of Service at our store, located at 306 Mill St. from 9-12. This is a perfect opportunity for students to get service hours and help us organize our store. Volunteers will be able to purchase items at 25% off at the conclusion of the service day. Individuals or groups are welcome.
We will also be rehabbing another house on 5th Street which was recently vacated. We are anticipating considerable work to get it ready for our qualified family. Lots of opportunities to help for people of all skill levels. Keep watching for updates on this project.
Our board meets on the last Monday of every month. We are always looking for new members to help us build and rehab houses for qualified buyers in Pasquotank County.
