A North Carolina Poem
North Carolina, land of the pines
Where the sweet tea flows and the barbecue shines
From the mountains to the coast
There’s a beauty that can’t be boast
In the east, the Outer Banks stretch wide
Where the sea turtles come to hide
The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse stands tall
Guiding ships through the seas, through it all
In the west, the Blue Ridge Mountains rise
Their peaks reaching up to the skies
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Is a wonder that’s hard to mark
But it’s not just the land that makes this state so grand
It’s the people, friendly and welcoming, hand in hand
From the cities to the rural towns
There’s a sense of community that surrounds
So here’s to North Carolina, this great state of ours
May it always be a place of beauty and power.
